CU Buffs, Deion Sanders Add Four-Star Recruit, Lose Another

The Colorado football team has had a tough couple of weeks on the field, but on the recruiting trail, they had a mixed day.

Four-star recruit Alex Ward from IMG Academy in Florida verbally committed to CU and head coach Deion Sanders for the 2027 class. Ward, who is 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, had previously decommitted from Alabama and has 13 offers from other top schools, including Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan.

However, the Buffs also lost a recruit, as four-star defensive lineman Emanuel Ruffin decommitted from the 2026 class.

Ward is the younger brother of Christian Ward, who is also committed to CU for the 2026 class. In his sophomore year, Ward played at Walton High School in Georgia, catching 9 passes for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns, and adding 18 tackles and 2 interceptions on defense.

Author's summary: CU Buffs gain a four-star recruit for 2027.
