The Greyhound Hall of Fame is now home to Abilene's 14th cowboy boot public art installation.
Solomon native Donna Weeks initiated the project after noticing the lack of a cowboy boot at the Greyhound Hall of Fame when 11 plaster cowboy boots were installed around Abilene.
Why didn’t the Greyhound Hall of Fame have one?
The new boot features Ginger, a former racing greyhound and greeter at the museum who passed away last year. The art piece was dedicated on Oct. 14, with Weeks, artist Hannah Worthen, and Brett Weeks in attendance, along with greyhounds Koko and Max.
The installation is the only boot along Buckeye Avenue, adding to Abilene's public art scene.
