Mayfield Urges Fundamental Shift in Workplace Health Approach
The Government will establish a three-year vanguard project with employers and health providers to create a new "healthy work standard" and reduce employee absenteeism.
This follows the recommendations made in the Keep Britain Working review, led by Sir Charlie Mayfield, which calls for a
"fundamental shift" in approach to workplace health and wellbeing, from a model where health at work is largely left to the individual and the NHS, to one where it becomes a shared responsibility between employers, employees, and health services.
- Employers, both large and small, will work with health service providers, including GPs and primary healthcare services.
- Occupational health providers, EAPS, insurers, and other third parties will also be involved.
